Winter Break Camp 2017: Galactic Adventure

December 18 - 22

9 a.m. - 4 p.m.

Winter Break Camp explores the science (and science fiction!) of our galaxy. Sign up for the entire week or choose the days that work best for you. Each day will include programming in the Planetarium, Exhibit Hall exploration, and oodles of hands-on science activities. Morning and afternoon snacks are provided. Please send a lunch with your camper that does not require use of a fridge or microwave. Campers should come dressed for messy science and outdoor play.

Monday: Earth, Sun, and Moon

Why does the moon look different each night? What causes an eclipse? Explore the unique relationship between the Earth, Sun, and Moon which allows life to thrive on the very special planet we call home.

Tuesday: Our Solar System

Which planet is home to the biggest volcano in the solar system? Could humans really survive on Mars? Experiment with the geologic features of the amazing planets and other space objects of our solar system.

Wednesday: Use the Force
Jedi are able to move objects by “using the force”. Could we use science to move objects without touching them? From gravity to magnetism, all kinds of forces are at work on Earth and in outer space, and we will explore them together.

Thursday: Journey Through Space

From space shuttles to robotic spacecrafts, humans have been improving space exploration for generations. How are we able to launch objects out of our atmosphere and navigate through space? Engineer your own rocket and more at Science Factory!

Friday: Galactic Heroes

Come dressed as your favorite space hero for the final day of Winter Break Camp! From Buzz Lightyear to Buzz Aldrin, we will explore the real and fictional and heroines and heroes who inspire us to learn more about our universe.
