Financial Aid:

Partial and full scholarships are available to those who qualify thanks to generous donations from business sponsors and community organizations.  Funds are limited and scholarships are awarded on a first-come, first-served basis.

You must apply for a scholarship prior to filling out your camp registration. Apply using our online form.

Payment:

Registrations must be made using our online system at least 1 week (7 days) prior to the start of the camp session. Registrations made after this time will be charged a $5 per camp late fee. A non-refundable deposit of $25 for EACH CAMP, due at the time of registration, will confirm your spot in the camp. Remaining tuition and fees are due one week (7 days) prior to the start of the chosen camp session.

Our online system allows for the ability to set up a payment schedule. You must ensure that your payment schedule corresponds with our payment deadlines. If full tuition and fees are not received 7 days prior to the start of a camp session, your spot may be forfeited to the next child on the waitlist.

Cancellations:

  • If a cancellation is at least 7 days prior to the start of the camp, 100% of camp fees will be refunded, minus the non-refundable deposit of $25.
  • If a cancellation is made by 4 PM on the Thursday prior to the first day of camp, 50% of camp fees will be refunded, minus the non-refundable deposit of $25.
  • After that date, no fees can be refunded.

Camp Policies and Procedures:

Check-in/Check-out

Campers (other than those signed up for Extended Care) may sign in up to 15 minutes prior to the start of camp. Camps end promptly at 12 noon or 4PM, and After Care ends no later than 5:30PM. Parents/guardians must arrange for on-time pickup. After ten minutes past these pickup times (according to the clock at the Science Factory front desk), your pickup will be considered late and a fee of $1 per minute will be assessed to your account.

Campers must be checked in by an adult. Campers may only be checked out by their parents/guardians, emergency contact, and other approved adults listed on their registration form. Any adult may be asked by a staff member to provide identification at the time of check-out. Campers age 12 and older may, with written authorization from a parent/guardian, be permitted to check themselves in/out after Monday check-in. Authorization forms for this purpose will be available at Monday check-in.

First Aid

Science Factory staff members are trained in first aid and will treat summer's common minor injuries as they occur. Our first aid kits contain gloves, individual cleansing wipes, band-aids, gauze pads, antibiotic ointment, tweezers, and cold packs.

If your child needs to take medication during the camp day, please note this on the registration form. A medication authorization form will be available at Monday check-in for parents to sign. Medications will be kept at the front desk or kept with the student at the instructors' discretion. Parents should remember to claim medications after camp at the front desk.

Rules and Discipline

A few simple rules help staff and campers to have a great experience during summer camp. We encourage you to discuss these rules with your child prior to arriving at camp. These rules will be available at Monday morning sign-in, and instructors and staff will refer to them throughout the week.

  • Respect yourself: Maintain a good attitude, be safe, and have fun.
  • Respect others: Listen when others are teaching or sharing, treat others fairly, and keep hands and feet to yourself.
  • Respect the equipment: Take good care of all equipment while using it, put things away when finished, and let a staff member know if something is broken.

Instructors and staff members will enforce consequences when rules are violated. These include a verbal warning; a short time-out within the classroom or recess area; a discussion with parent/guardian and student at check-out; referral to the Education Director's office; and, when deemed absolutely necessary by the Education Director for the safety or well-being of the rest of the camp, early dismissal or expulsion from camp. Refunds will not be available for dismissals due to disciplinary actions.

Snack/Recesss

Campers will have 30 minutes of snacktime and outdoor free play during each AM and PM session. The Science Factory provides a small snack and beverage (juice or water); campers may have our snack or bring their own. We serve snacks that are peanut-free, and we will do our best to accommodate other food allergies reported to us on the registration form. We will attempt to create peanut-free or other allergen-free tables in the event of a severe allergy. Please note that the museum, and the outdoor picnic tables, are public facilities.

The Science Factory provides a variety of toys and games during the recess period; students are expected to share toys and respect the equipment. Our staff and volunteer counselors will also do their best to encourage constructive playtime.

Feedback

We love to hear from campers and parents/guardians about how we can improve our camps! Short surveys will be distributed to each camper and parent/guardian during the camp week, and we encourage you to return them. Please direct your questions, comments, or feedback about summer camp to our Education Director at 541-682-7892 or by e-mail.
